Working with a designer for the first time can be intimidating. You may not know what to expect, how things will happen, or what you need to do. This outline should give you a rough idea of the design process from beginning to end.
Step 1. Request a quote
Every project is different. Two businesses that each want a logo may have very different needs and different audiences. Therefore, it is necessary to have an idea of what you want before we can even get started. When you request a quote, you tell us about your project, explaining what sort of product you want, what you are hoping to accomplish, and what kind of budget you have in mind. This gives us a place to start. A designer will look over your request, probably getting back with you to fill in a few more details and to clarify the direction you want the project to go, before giving you a breakdown of what will need to be done and how much it will cost to complete the project.
Step 2. Contract
Once you and the designer agree on how to proceed, we prepare a contract. This will specify what services you are purchasing from Adelie Design and how much you expect to pay for those services. Work will begin on your project as soon as both parties have signed the contract.
Step 3. Preliminary drafts
The designer will prepare preliminary drafts, involving you early on in the design process. These rough drafts will allow you to see the project starting to take shape and give you the opportunity to make changes while concepts are still in development. After discussing the drafts with you, the designer should have a good idea of how to proceed to a final product that will serve your needs and meet with your approval.
Step 4. Revisions
Going forward with the draft you approve in the previous step, the designer revises and refines the design to create a polished and professional product. This step can be repeated as often as agreed to in the contract*, with your input welcome after each round of revisions. This step ends when you see what the final product will look like.
*We can always do more revisions than agreed to in the contract, but there will be additional fees.
Step 5. Delivery
Depending on the type of project, the delivery of the final product can take many different forms. For some projects, Adelie Design will send you digital files. For print items, we can work with a printer to deliver the final product. For websites, Adelie Design can get you set up with a domain name and web host and will even provide ongoing maintenance of your site.
We are happy to communicate with you by whatever means you prefer. As our client, you can take advantage of the interactive Client Center on our website to share project-related files and track the progress of your projects.
