What is an Adelie?

Millions of Adelie penguins (Pygoscelis adeliae) live in and around the Ross Sea in Antarctica. They pile rocks in circles to build their nests, which they have been known to share with the occasional cat. French explorer Jules Dumont d’Urville named these small penguins (roughly the size of a three-month old child) after his wife Adéle in 1830.

Who’s behind Adelie Design?

Stephanie Brinley, Designer, President

Stephanie Brinley

Stephanie knew she would be an artist the day she picked up her first crayon and a graphic designer as soon as she learned such a job existed. She believes that good design should stand back, facilitating the transfer of information without overwhelming it. A successful design makes you say, “I learned a lot from that brochure,” or, “It was easy to find what I needed on that website.”

Jonathan has traveled a convoluted path, starting as a percussionist, then a librarian, before settling in as a web developer. He has a passion for building websites that make information easily accessible. This means using clean, standards-compliant, semantic markup; building logical, intuitive navigation; and sharing data using open, accessible formats.
